National Foster Care Prize up For Grabs

Journalists, if you produce stories about Child Welfare issues apply for the Child Welfare League of America’s prestigious Anna Quindlen Award.

The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) is once again seeking nominations for the Anna Quindlen Awards for Excellence in Journalism on Behalf of Children and Families. The deadline has been extended to February 1. CWLA established the award in 1995 to recognize individuals in the field of journalism–print reporters, editorial writers, and broadcast news–whose coverage of child welfare issues advances knowledge and understanding of the state of vulnerable children and families in America.

Foster Youth Internship Deadline Fast Approaching

Hello all, the deadline for CCAI‘s Foster Youth Internship Program is fast approaching. If you know any young adults coming out of foster care who want to get involved in DC politics please have them apply by January 7th.

The Foster Youth Internship Program of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is for young adults who spent at least 24 consecutive months in foster care at any point in their life and who have completed at least 4 semesters of higher education by May 31, 2011. The End of an Era: Trish Ploehn and DCFS

Trish Ploehn, the Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, will step down from her post, according to the Los Angeles Times.
