A nationwide data collection project …

“Who Cares: A National Count of Foster Homes & Families” began in 2017 as a nationwide data collection project that sought to capture the number of foster family homes in the United States. Our aim was to measure the foster care system’s true capacity.

In 2018, FMC held events related to the release of Who Cares in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.

Georgia state legislators were motivated by the 2018 event in Atlanta to seek increased financial support for relative caregivers who, in many states, are paid less than strangers for taking in foster children.
