Independent journalism
The Imprint is an independent daily news outlet focused on the nation’s child welfare and youth justice systems. Since 2013, Imprint reporters have produced rigorous, in-depth reporting on the courts that process these children, youth and families; the agencies paid to serve them and the housing, economic, mental health and educational issues they face.
The Imprint’s national staff work in California, New York, Minnesota, Colorado and Michigan, producing daily news coverage, the Youth Services Insider column and a weekly podcast. A network of freelance journalists and opinion writers across the country also contribute to our news product, a mix of breaking news, in-depth, enterprising pieces and investigative reports. Since its inception, The Imprint has published more than 6,500 articles on issues impacting children, youth and families and won numerous awards. Our stories are regularly co-published by prominent news outlets nationwide.
Our work is co-published and cited in local and national outlets
The Imprint Weekly Podcast
Launched in 2020, The Imprint Weekly Podcast breaks down the latest child welfare headlines and features a guest expert from the field. Hosted by FMC’s Co-Executive Director John Kelly.
The Imprint has become the paper of record for the child protection field, and I depend on it to hear a range of voices and learn about trends. And I think your coverage of hidden foster care also helped flag it for outlets like the New York Times.
